I am having difficulty serving a harassment protection order to someone out of state. That person has an attorney in the same state as I reside in. Can the order be given to their attorney or does it have to be handed to that person?

Depends on whether the attorney was hired in the same case as your order and on the laws of service for your state and his.
I don’t know about that. Call an attorney to ask them that particular question. However, around here, a bail bondsman will deliver protection orders etcetera. If you know where the person lives you can call a local bail bondsman to serve it for you. Just mail it to him and get him to serve it. They do charge for providing this service, however, I do not think it’s much. Maybe even call the sheriff’s office in the town that the person lives in. They could possibly assist with its delivery.
