What Is Power Of Attorney? Do Your Parents Have That Over You If You’re Eighteen And Living In Their House?

Okay, in Alaska, we have this thing called the PFD. Basically, it says you can only apply on behalf of another adult [eighteen plus years of age] if: they are disabled, if you hold power of attorney, or if they are deceased. Well, I am not deceased. I am not disabled. But do they hold power of attorney over me? What is power of attorney?

Your parents do not have power of attorney over you if you are 18 unless you signed a document giving them that power.

No. A power of attorney has to be granted by an adult.
