How To Find A Good Divorce Attorney In North Carolina?

My husband left me and my 3 year old son. I am 4 months pregnant. He said he still wants some custody though over our children. How do you know which attorney’s are good and which are not? I live in NC. thanks so much.

When there is a child involved, and in your case one on the way, check with the North Carolina Bar Association. They should be able to refer you to a good attorney, and one that won’t cost you and arm and a leg. Good Luck

the important thing to remember when talking to an attorney about anything is that they seem interested in what u are telling them, they make frequent eye contact with u, they answer your questions with entiuasm-they treat u as a person not just a paycheck. they try and offer solutions to questions u have. make sure that it really seems that they have your best interest at heart. steer clear if they are fidgety and can’t look u in the eye,or if they stutter, can’t articulate very well-you’ll want a lawyer who has these qualities so as not to frustrate the judge. also if the lawyer is very loud talking or doesn’t talk clearly. watch his body movement and make sure that he’s not drinking-yes i’ve had this happen-a drunk lawyer. i wish u the best of luck. also make sure they write down a quote of what they are going to charge u and have them sign it so as they can’t change it later. never pay with cash-always get a receipt for any money u pay and keep them in a safe place-also make sure that your husband doesn’t have any influences with them.

    Depends where in NC.
If you live near Asheville or Black Mountain or anywhere near Buncombe County, go to “Pisgah Legal Services” on Highway 151 (pisgah hwy) they do a LOT of pro-bono (free) work for divorces.

    Check with the Bar association.
Most decent lawyers give a free 30 min consultation for this type of problem.

Most attorneys are very good if you pay them a lot of money !
