Can I Sell A Vehicle With Power Of Attorney For The Owner Without The Registration Or Title?

My father is in prison and he needs to sell his car for money. His girlfriend took the registration and title for the vehicle and won’t give it back. I have the car because I have power of attorney is it possible for me to obtain copies of either paper work and sell the car, or just sell the car with out the papers. The police can do nothing seeing how she keeps saying she doesn’t have them. So any ideas? What should I do?

You need to get a duplicate title. You should be able to get one because you have power of attorney but there are different types of power of attorney so your Father may have to get the title for you. With the new title and your power of attorney, you can sell the car. You would get a better answer if you asked this in the law section of Y/A
