I have recently received a subpoena from an attorney in a court case. The case involves two neighbors that are disputing a property line. They are calling me out because I inspected a leaky water heater for the one client 2 years ago. That’s all I did no work or anything, I simply told the client they have a leaky water heater and they need to replace it.
I’ve asked the attorney’s assistant why they need me for the case and all she’ll say is that she’s not sure what angle the attorney is going to use, but that my apperance is necessary.
My question is, how is it okay for an attorney to pull me away from my work for a day when there seems to be no relevant reason for my appearance. I’m the owner of the company and want to know can I bill the attorney for the time I lose while at this court case?
